The Scarlet Letter (In a nutshell)
After reading the article on shmoop.com about The Scarlett Letter I couldn't help but be excited to read this book. Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote the book during a time when he was grieving about his mother's death. He was harboring a lot of pain and therefore let all his emotions out in this book. Many of us can relate to letting our emotions pour out in writing, whether its on paper, a Facebook status, or a journal. Hawthorn's book takes place in Boston mid 17th century in a society governed by Puritans. The book revolves around its main character, Hester Prynne.
